Keeping with AUD’s vision of engaged social sciences, the main objective of this Centre focused largely on ‘action research’ is to

(a) Participate or be catalytic in the engendering of transformative social praxis in ‘just’ and ‘ethical’ directions that foster social well-being.

(b) ‘Work with communities’ rather than ‘work on’, to both generate knowledge about community contexts, issues, problems and “social suffering” as also institute sustainable community praxis for social transformation in desirable directions

(c) Generate knowledge through praxis; i.e. generate knowledge of transformation through the praxis of transformation; in other words, take transformative praxis as object of enquiry.

The Centre draws upon existing action research methodologies and methods of ‘working with’ communities by knowing-relating-doing including questions of being – for transformed futures in rural and peri-urban areas.
